About Us

At Pure Symmetry, in Bethesda, MD and Washington DC, we offer a one-on-one treatment approach to strive to be the last and most effective physical therapist you will need to see by identifying the root cause of your dysfunction. While appreciating anatomy and biomechanical principles, we consider the whole person and the whole body when evaluating, designing a treatment plan, and executing that plan. Pure Symmetry has a goal of body systems alignment, restoration of motion, and the ability to function and move without pain or limitation.

  • Manual Therapy is a hands-on technique that encompasses soft tissue and joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, and thrust techniques used to restore joint mechanics, improve range of motion, and relieve pain.

  • Dry needling is a physical intervention to stimulate trigger points. It’s used as a diagnostic tool and to treat neuromuscular pain and functional movement deficits. The approach is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles.

  • A system of exercises using special apparatus, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness.

  • The Maitland Approach is considered the cornerstone of modern-day Orthopedic Manual Therapy for treatment of both Spinal and Peripheral conditions, and uses primarily the assessment and treatment of the patient’s signs and symptoms to develop an effective treatment plan. This approach is patient-centric, and respects the diagnosis with an understanding of the pathology.

  • Deep Core Stabilization Education and Activation with Progression of Exercise to Reinforce all Functional Positions and Transitions

  • Sitting/Standing Alignment Education, Work Station Education

  • Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®), often referred to as ESWT or shockwave therapy, delivers an evidence-based*, non-surgical solution for patients suffering from acute or chronic pain

  • At the core of Visceral Manipulation (VM) is 'listening' to the tissues with our hands. Through manual listening techniques, trained hands of a skilled practitioner feel where the tissues are pulling toward the areas of restriction, the areas where the body is not moving, and the areas of the greatest impact on the person's wellbeing from the manual therapy perspective.

  • A model, not a methodology. The Integrated Systems Model has evolved from 40 years of collaborative clinical and education experience. It is a framework to provide the best possible treatment for the individual patient. ISM considers the various systems PTs primarily treat in the scope of physiotherapy to contribute to both optimal and non-optimal strategies for function and performance. The ISM model treats that whole person.

Maryland and the District of Columbia are direct states which means that you do not need a prescription from a physician unless your insurance plan dictates the need.

Pure Symmetry is not a Medicare provider. We do not provide physical therapy services to Medicare patients. It is possible to see one of our physical therapists as a personal wellness client for a maintenance program. A wellness/maintenance program is not considered a medical treatment thus there will be no reimbursement from Medicare or a secondary insurance provider.

Pure Symmetry is out of network with all insurances. We will provide a superbly with applicable ICD-10 code(s) and CPT procedure codes that you can submit to your private healthcare company for reimbursement purposes.

Each physical therapy, initial consult and follow up visits, will last 50-55 minutes in length from your scheduled start time. If you are late for your appointment, we will not go beyond your scheduled visit time. We value very much a person’s time and consider this when booking patients on the hour.

Late Cancel, outside the 24 hour window, and No Show Appointments will be charged at the full rate.
